Saxophones and Sophistication: Alexandra & Michael’s Langham Wedding to Remember
Hosted at The Langham Chicago, Alexandra and Michael’s wedding was a masterclass in blending timeless sophistication with heartfelt personal touches. From the black-tie wedding party to an unforgettable musical performance by the groom himself, every detail reflected their shared vision of a modern fairytale. The couple’s story began at Indiana University, where they met in grad school while pursuing careers as CPAs. Now working at competing Big Four accounting firms, Alexandra and Michael have mastered the art of balance — both professionally and personally. This harmony was beautifully reflected throughout their wedding day, which included honoring Alexandra’s Jewish heritage and Michael’s Catholic faith in equal measure.
Their heartfelt ceremony, held beneath a white-and-light-pink huppah designed by Yanni Design Studio, was a testament to this harmony. Led by Rabbi Michael Sommer and Father Corey Brost, the service blended traditions from both faiths seamlessly.
Following the romantic exchange of vows, the celebration shifted to an energetic pace inside The Langham’s Devonshire Ballroom. Guests were treated to an unforgettable evening of dining, dancing and lively entertainment from BKO (BeatMix Music). In a show-stopping moment that guests will be talking about for years, Michael — a talented saxophonist — serenaded Alexandra with a heartfelt performance before joining the band for a lively set, creating a truly one-of-a-kind memory.
Alexandra reflected on their venue choice with glowing praise: “The Langham is absolutely stunning. As soon as we stepped into the lobby, I knew it would be a fairytale. Many of our guests traveled from out of town, and we wanted to ensure their experience was as magical as ours. The Langham delivered in every way.”
Ensuring every detail of the day was flawlessly executed was Shaun Raja, who at the time served as The Langham’s Director of Social Catering. Now an independent wedding and event planner, Shaun’s meticulous attention to detail and dedication to perfection left Alexandra and Michael with nothing to do but enjoy their day.
With the beauty of downtown Chicago as their backdrop and the love of family and friends surrounding them, Alexandra and Michael’s wedding was the perfect blend of elegance, heart, and unforgettable music.
