Missy & Danny’s Fun Geometric Wedding
Missy & Danny
June 23, 2018
South Barrington, IL
Pinstripes’ intimate, modern space offered the perfect setting for this couple’s big day. Missy and Danny, both professional graphic designers, wanted to incorporate geometric elements into every piece of their wedding, from the invitations to the cake. They exchanged vows in an outdoor ceremony in front of a triangular backdrop that was repurposed as décor during the reception. Vibrant pink bouquets popped against Missy’s gorgeous almond Stella York gown and her bridesmaids’ navy chiffon dresses. Danny donned a succulent boutonnière and a light gray suit, matching his groomsmen.
The couple kept their reception modern and fun. An acrylic welcome sign greeted guests as they arrived. Peach napkins were folded neatly over gold chargers and navy linens. Gold terrariums housed succulents and delicate prink blooms, serving as centerpieces and hanging décor. Dinner was served family-style and included some of the bride and groom’s favorite dishes. Dessert was a striking three-tier white and gold vanilla mousse spongecake by Toni Patisserie & Café, along with a gelato bar with three flavors and a variety of toppings. Guests received cookie favors that depicted the couple’s beloved cats, and enjoyed an evening of dancing, bowling and more. With the goal of saving for their first house, the newlyweds escaped on a mini-moon to Lake Geneva, WI after the wedding.

“We looked at some venues prior to Pinstripes but they felt too traditional. When we met with Sara (Pinstripes wedding coordinator) and she showed us the venue we both knew instantly that this is where we wanted to have our wedding. We choose Pinstripes because we wanted a unconventional setting that matched our personality. Pinstripes has a cool modern indoor/outdoor patio that blew us away. The space is very intimate but open and has beautiful lighting. We loved the look of the venue because it was industrial, modern but still inviting. We had our hearts set on an outdoor ceremony and were able to have it a few feet away from our reception that way guests and vendors wouldn’t be inconvenienced. We had been to Pinstripes previously and really enjoyed the food. Food selection was very important to us. Sara was also a motivating factor. She was personable, warm, accommodating and really excited when she heard about our vision. All of our ideas were welcome and she did not give us many restrictions.” -Missy
“Karen Daudelin prepared all our flowers. I chose peonies, which remind me of my late grandmother, and blue thistle to add texture and contrast to the bright summer flowers. We wanted a mix of corals, pinks, blues and plenty of succulents. I love the look of succulents in wedding bouquets and made sure we had them mixed in with our bouquets and boutonnières.” -Missy
“Danny and I wanted to involve our cats somehow in our wedding. We didn’t want to feel like we left them out. They are our family. We came up with the idea to have our wedding favor be something edible that people would actually want. We had both been to weddings where the favors were trinkets and stuff that ended up sitting in a junk drawer. We came up with the idea to have cookies decorated like our cat’s faces. Danny also designed a label that said Just Meowied.” -Missy
“We got a vanilla mousse spongecake with raspberry buttercream frosting from a local bakery, Toni Patisserie & Café. We also had a Gelato bar with 3 flavors and plenty of toppings. Danny loves ice cream, and spent tons of time perfecting the flavors. He chose vanilla, salted caramel, and mocha cappuccino.” -Missy
