Marea & Olivia’s Colorful Cottage Wedding
On a hot August day, the pastoral town of Mundelein, IL, played host to an intimate and love-filled wedding for Marea and Olivia. Though the couple now resides together in Providence, RI, Olivia, a Chicago native, returned to their Illinois roots to celebrate this special day.
Olivia, a landscape architect and ceramic artist, and Marea, a mental health counselor, chose a family friend’s private estate called “The Cottage” for their venue. This charming estate, designed by renowned architect David Adler, features breathtaking gardens crafted by Alfred Caldwell. The estate overlooks almost 3,000 acres of preserved lands, including a fishing pond, beehives, an apple orchard, and 12 acres of native prairie. This tranquil backdrop set the perfect stage for their celebration, enveloping their special day in natural beauty.
The ceremony itself was held on the rolling countryside hills. Flanked by their wedding party dressed in shades of pastel, a close friend officiated the service, standing before a backdrop of multicolored ribbons fluttering in the breeze. As Marea and Olivia completed their vows and walked down the aisle for the first time as a married couple, their guests showered them with dried flower petals.
