Local Love – Madhu & Geogy at Drury Lane
Madhu and Geogy met at a conference overseas while they were both in medical school. Their friendship grew into a relationship that was then tested over long distances and separation. Their bond was unshakable, and after finally reuniting in Chicago, Geogy surprised Madhu with an incredibly romantic and thoughtful proposal. She knew they were perfect for each other because they shared a deep love for their families, with Geogy flying her family into town to celebrate their engagement together.
On their wedding day, Madhu and Geogy exchanged letters with each other before heading to the Cathedral for their wedding ceremony. They included several traditional elements in their ceremony, including the covering of the bride with the Manthrakodi and tying the Thali. The covering of the bride with the Manthrakodi represents the husband’s responsibility to love, cherish, to provide for and to protect the bride and the willful acceptance of these promises by the bride while the tying of the Thali signifies the indissoluble union of bride and groom.
After they officially tied the knot, Madhu and Geogy joined their guests at Drury Lane for a lavish wedding reception. The blush, gold and white color palette were gorgeously represented throughout the draping, floral arrangements and table settings. Guests were treated to an edible chocolate place card and an incredible five-tier wedding cake. Looking back on their Big Day, Madhu said, “Just seeing so many of our cherished family and friends all in one room during our reception left us awestruck!” With guests from India, London, Canada, Dubai, and New Zealand all gathered in Chicago to celebrate Madhu and Geogy’s love, it’s no wonder the happy couple felt treasured and supported.
