Local Love – Brittany & Matthew at Geneva National Resort and The Ridge Hotel
Sometimes family members make the best matchmakers! Brittany’s aunt worked with Matthew and thought the pair would get along well. She convinced Brittany to add Matthew on Facebook, which led to an exchange of phone numbers and culminated in the two hanging out when Brittany’s aunt invited them both over for pizza. Once they officially met, Brittany and Matthew realized they shared many of the same values and wanted to spend all of their time together.
Once it was time to plan a wedding, Brittany and Matthew knew they wanted to tie the knot in the winter. Brittany embraced the season of wedding planning and tried not to let the little details stress her, and she ended up really enjoying the entire experience, from planning to the honeymoon. On the morning of their Big Day, Brittany woke up early with her bridesmaids to enjoy some time relaxing and getting ready together. She was really excited to wear her mom’s wedding shoes for her own walk down the aisle. The couple chose to forego a first look, but Brittany did have an emotional first look with her dad, complete with lots of tears. She and Matthew saw each other for the first time as her dad walked her down the aisle. Brittany’s favorite moment from their Big Day was holding hands and exchanging their traditional vows in front of their family and friends.
After the ceremony, the couple took photos on the golf course that was covered with the perfect amount of snow. Brittany embraced the chilly season with a white fur cape while her bridesmaids wore white fur shawls. After photos, Brittany and Matthew’s guests entered their winter wonderland reception through a receiving line where the happy couple stood to greet everyone alongside a beautiful ice sculpture carved into an “H” for their last name. The reception was decorated in a navy, silver and white color palette with silver branches, lots of white flowers, twinkling lights and plenty of sparkle for a magical touch. The couple enjoyed their traditional first dances and then invited their guests to the dance floor to get the party started. They kept guests entertained with a surprise confetti shoot and made sure all the dancers had plenty of fuel with late night pizza snacks. Brittany and Matthew truly loved every minute of their wedding day. Matthew said the best part was celebrating their love surrounded by friends and family. The couple made sure to take a few minutes at their reception to step back and soak in the magic happening all around them, lost in the love and happiness of celebrating their marriage.
