Local Love – Alison & Eric at Bridgeport Art Center
Alison and Eric met at work, though they were both seeing other people at the time, so they initially struck up a friendship. Their friendship grew and eventually the pair began dating. They knew it was meant to be because they made each other better versions of themselves.
When it was time to plan a wedding, Alison and Eric wanted a low-key, relaxed day to enjoy with their closest friends and family. They both particularly enjoyed their wedding ceremony. “Sharing our vows with each other in front of everyone was scary and awesome all at the same time!” Alison shared. As a nod to Celtic culture, the pair incorporated a traditional Irish blessing of the hands with Celtic knot tying. They chose to have a close friend perform their ceremony so it would feel intimate and personal.
After Alison and Eric were officially married, they joined their guests for a rustic, industrial reception. Alison’s mom loves flowers, so she was responsible for choosing most of the florals, focusing on creating a warm, inviting vibe with plenty of greenery and fun pops of color. The couple wanted guests to have options for sweet or savory treats, so they offered a custom donut wall and cheese plates featuring local cheeses. They also created an outdoor cigar bar so guests could treat themselves to a smoke while mingling and enjoying the lovely outdoor space. They kept things personal by using photos of themselves at each age to correspond with the table numbers, which everyone found entertaining. The couple were truly able to relax and enjoy their day instead of stressing about details or logistics. Alison had some excellent advice for future brides or grooms: “Let your personalities come through in the day itself. Don’t focus on the small things and remember you are about to marry the love of your life, which is all that matters!”
