Kara & Mrig’s Colorful Wicker Park Celebrations
In beloved Wicker Park, Kara and Mrig hosted guests from around the globe for a weekend of colorful celebrations and a sentimental, culture-blending union.
The day before their ceremony and reception, Kara and Mrig hosted a Haldi ceremony and Mehendi at The Hall at The Robey. Following these Hindu traditions with immediate family and close friends, the couple opened up The Hall to all guests for a welcome cocktail party. Since many of their guests were coming from out of town, this opening reception at the hotel was a great way to settle in and get everyone acquainted.
On the wedding day, first looks were held at The Robey in Wicker Park’s rooftop, The Up Room. While the views from this venue were breathtaking on their own, the couple shone all on their own in front of the sunny Chicago skyline.
Their ceremony and reception were held at The Joinery, just down the street from The Robey. A broad color palette of jewel tones, soft candle lighting and ample textures created a joyful, bohemian scene in the industrial setting.
Kara and Mrig wanted the festivities to be representative of their different cultures. The ceremony blended traditions and cultures, including Mrig’s Hindu traditions like the exchange of garlands, vows exchanged through the Hindu Saat Phere and the application of sindoor to Kara’s scalp. Kara’s traditions followed, with a poem reading, personal vows and a ring exchange.
Throughout the festivities, Kara and Mrig cherished quality time with friends and family. From the decor to their attire to their venue choices, the couple’s love for each other shone through every facet of their wedding weekend.
