Kate & Anslem’s Italian Villa-Style Wedding
Italian villa inspiration blended with traditional Nigerian heritage made for a night to remember. Add in the Chicago lakefront venue and a Mexican catering spread, Kate and Anslem’s wedding was diverse and vibrant.
As many authentic love stories begin, Kate and Anslem were set up through a mutual friend. It only took one dive bar date for their lives to become inseparable. Fast forward, Anslem caught Kate by the most pleasant surprise when he proposed to her on a hike in Denver. She said “yes!” and the wedding planning followed suit.
When planning their wedding, Edgewater neighborhood’s Colvin House supplied the intimate courtyard experience the couple was looking for. Relying on Colvin House’s in-house team for catering, entertainment, floral and decor, all elements of the event came together seamlessly.
Kate stated that the venue’s existing beauty inspired much of the wedding’s details. The pale pink and neutral color palette lent itself to a light, bohemian air, with added touches of gold for romanticism. Wanting to keep the event intimate and comfortable, the couple opted for long dinner tables and buffet-style dining. Ensuring the day was comfortable and welcoming, yet elegant and special was a goal well achieved.
And what’s a wedding without some special touches? Anslem is Nigerian, so the couple was excited to surprise their guests with traditional Nigerian wedding attire. A family friend created and designed Dashikis for a delightful reception outfit change.
By splurging on what brought them happiness and saving on things that didn’t serve them, Kate and Anslem had a romantic wedding to remember.
