In Perfect Harmony: Kassy & Trevor’s Music-Filled Wedding
What happens when you marry a DJ and an executive marketer? Kassy and Trevor’s cohesive wedding celebration full of love, laughter and amazing music.
Kassy and Trevor’s story began on April 1st, 2011, an April Fool’s Day date that would become a 12-year love story filled with adventures. As they embarked on this new chapter, surrounded by cherished friends and family — coming from rural Ohio to bustling Chicago — they chose Room 1520 as the canvas for their celebration—a spacious loft venue that allowed them to infuse their unique style into every detail.
The venue’s wide open spaces allowed the couple to craft it with their own flair of decor, which included moody, dark elements and a black, white and gold theme. Beyond the visual appeal, the venue was selected partially because it was a meaningful spot for the groom. Trevor is an event DJ, and Room 1520 was the first wedding venue he DJ’d at — a poignant reminder of his passion and dedication.
With Trevor as a DJ by profession, music played a huge part in the celebrations. A standout feature of the day was the custom 10-foot boombox used as a table number display. The giant boombox featured two cut-out speakers that housed shelves containing tape cassettes for each guest. Once the guests opened the cassette, they were greeted with yet another unique surprise: each side of the tape had a custom label that featured a QR code to two curated Spotify playlists, one mixed by the groom and one mixed by the bride. Each playlist featured 12 songs the bride and groom hand-selected that reminded them of the 12 years they spent together.
Complementing Trevor’s love for music, Kassy’s marketing prowess was evident in every detail, from personalized cocktail menus honoring their grandmothers to custom napkins featuring their beloved labradoodle, Phife. A handcrafted wedding logo tied the elements together seamlessly, creating a cohesive narrative that unfolded throughout the event.
Their wedding was not without its delightful surprises—including a taco bar buffet, a late-night churro cart and even Phife taking on the role of “dog of honor.” Transitioning into the reception, the couple swapped formal attire for Nike sneakers, embracing comfort without compromising style.
From the sleek black invites adorned with gold foil lettering to the meticulously coordinated decor, every aspect of the wedding exuded sophistication and charm, setting the stage for an unforgettable celebration of love, music and cherished memories.
