Colette & Wade’s Classic Country Club Wedding
Due to an unfortunate incident with a skunk, Colette almost canceled her first date with Wade. Luckily, she persevered and discovered over several more dates that they were “perfect for each other.” The couple are avid bike riders, and Wade eventually chose a long ride along Lake Michigan to propose. Unexpectedly, Colette had taken a spill just a few minutes before and nearly landed in the lake, so she accepted his proposal covered in mud.
They scheduled their wedding for September 25, 2020, and began planning a large event, choosing Ravisloe Country Club in Homewood as their venue. Then the global health crisis hit and forced a shift in their plans. They trimmed the guest list to 70 for the outdoor ceremony and cocktail hour and 50 for the indoor reception. “It turns out that when 50 of your closest friends and family are together in one room, you feel just as much or even more love than you would with a 200+ person wedding,” Colette explains.
Colette wore an ivory gown by designer Riki Dalal that featured a sleek skirt with a trumpet silhouette and a mid-length train. Her bridesmaids wore gowns in a shade of blush while Wade and the groomsmen opted for navy suits with coordinating ties and white pocket squares. The floral design complemented the color scheme in shades of ivory, blush and eucalyptus.
After a family-style dinner and dessert by Nothing Bundt Cakes, the guests packed the dance floor alongside the wedding party to celebrate the happy couple late into the night.
