Bridgette and Isaac’s The Ivy Room Romance
On a warm August day, Bridgette and Isaac said their vows and hosted an intimate reception at The Ivy Room in River North. With family and friends, the couple celebrated their commitment to their future and how far they’d come together.
The couple
When Bridgette entered Notre Dame’s molecular and cellular biology PhD program, she expected to work tirelessly to achieve her doctorate. But what she didn’t anticipate was that she’d also find her true love, Isaac. After graduation, Bridgette got a job as a scientist at an oncology diagnostics company in Chicago. Then less than a year later, Isaac followed her up work at the same company. After that, it was time for the couple to tie the knot.
Over the years, Bridgette and Isaac have enjoyed traveling the world together, scuba diving and geeking out about biology. They also love to walk their goofy Irish Setter named Gus. Gus even made a cameo on their wedding day, appearing in the form of a look-alike figurine taking a bite out of the wedding cake.
The neighborhood
Bridgette and Isaac’s wedding paid homage to their life together in Chicago. For their rehearsal dinner, they dined at their favorite neighborhood Italian restaurant, Peanut Park Trattoria. The next day, their ceremony was at their neighborhood church, Our Lady of the Holy Family. In fact, the wedding day began with the bride and her bridesmaids getting ready at the couple’s apartment, located just a mile from the church. Then after the ceremony, the wedding party visited one of Bridgette and Isaac’s favorite neighborhood treat spots, Mario’s Italian Lemonade.
The celebrations
To the couple, Our Lady of the Holy Family has a rich history and deep ties to the neighborhood. “Every time we walk through the vestibule into the church, we can feel the generations of couples that have walked down the aisle before us,” says Bridgette. “We found strength and perspective in this.”
A cocktail hour amidst The Ivy Room’s courtyard of creeping vines and stately brickwork kicked off the reception. The couple chose The Ivy Room as their venue because it offered the feel of an intimate outdoor space in the heart of the city. While excellent staff and food were selling points of the venue, it was this romantic courtyard that sealed the deal for Bridgette and Isaac.
After cocktail hour, an intimate, rockin’ party commenced. The band, The I.V. Collective from Illville Vanguard, set the scene, getting everyone out of their seats and grooving. In fact, Bridgette’s 93 year old grandma was having so much fun that even she didn’t leave the party before midnight!
