Anjali & Parthu’s Bold and Sunny Union
On a crisp March morning, Parthu planned an early morning date to Adler Planetarium to “watch the sunrise.” As the sun was peeking up from Lake Michigan, Parthu presented Anjali with a custom book and a question: “Will you marry me?” And Anjali said yes!
Anjali and Parthu’s shared cultural background was pervasive throughout their wedding. From the Garba to the Sangeet to the attire, their Indian heritage and Hindu religion were celebrated fully. The couple’s shared passion for nature and sustainability was also at the forefront. The venue, Hyatt Lodge, provided a blend of lushness and modernity with the ease of on-site accommodations for guests. Amidst the green scenery, Anjali loved the venue’s nods to classic Chicago mid-century and prairie-style architecture.
Because of their sunrise engagement, the couple wanted their wedding’s color palette to invoke the dawn of their new chapter together. As it is traditional for Indian brides to wear a red lehenga, this color story came naturally. The sunny motif continued as Anjali’s embroidered bridal lehenga was followed by a marigold Tarun Tahiliani concept saree for the reception.
The two love visiting art museums together, so inspiration from Van Gogh’s “Starry Night” transitioned the sunrise-influenced ceremony into an evening soiree. Traditional vegetarian dishes from the couple’s respective families’ regional tastes were served and speeches, dancing and laughter ensued. Altogether, the event was a perfect representation of the confidence, powerful presence and energy that first drew the couple to each other.
