Local Love – Kelly & Mike at The Beverly Country Club
Kelly and Mike were introduced by one of Kelly’s friends, who incidentally was Mike’s cousin. When Mike saw how sweet and kind Kelly was with his young nieces and nephews, he knew he had found someone special. Kelly knew that Mike’s intelligence, unconditional love, and drive to be better were traits she wanted in her forever partner.
When planning their wedding, Kelly and Mike knew they wanted their Big Day to honor their families and memories. Kelly’s mom passed away when she was 11 from breast cancer, and she had her bridesmaids wear pink dresses and carry pink bouquets as a nod to her mom’s favorite color as well as the color that represents breast cancer awareness. She included a photo charm of her mom on her own bouquet. Kelly asked her brother, who is one of her best friends, to stand with her as her “Man of Honor.” Mike got ready with his groomsmen at his family’s home, and it was important to him to have photos with his buddies in his driveway in front of his basketball hoop. The sentimental spot is where they learned to compete and developed their close friendships over the years.
Mike and Kelly exchanged vows in a traditional Catholic ceremony. “Seeing my Kelly walk down the aisle towards me was one of the most surreal experiences of my life,” shared Mike. After the ceremony, Mike and Kelly traveled to The Beverly Country Club to take photos with the wedding party before joining guests for a cocktail hour and reception. Mike’s family have been members at the club his whole life, and he was in awe of how perfect the venue looked for their celebration. The couple both come from large families, so they had fun trying to get everyone included in a single, huge family portrait.
The reception was so much fun it continued three hours past its original end time, into the wee hours of the morning. From the wedding cake, cake balls, ice cream treats, to the late night pizza, guests had plenty of fuel for the dance party. When the party was finally over, Kelly and Mike were the last two at the venue. “I’ll never forget us sitting on the steps just talking about how perfect the whole day was,” Kelly shared.
