A “Que Sera, Sera” Wedding for Alex & Christian at Wildman BT
Alexander (“Alex”) works in marketing and Christian is a creative director, so it was no surprise to their friends and family that their wedding would be spectacular and stylish. On a beautiful April day at Wildman BT, every detail of their celebration was meticulously planned and perfectly executed.
Choosing to spend the entire day together, the grooms got dressed together at The Publishing House Bed and Breakfast. Christian donned a stunning velvet burgundy dinner jacket, while his wedding party wore shades of burgundy, merlot and rust. Alex, in contrast, wore olive, with his wedding party dressed in coordinating hues of olive, sage, and moss. When the two parties stood together, they presented a sophisticated and regal tableau, beautifully complementing the venue’s rustic brick walls. The rich color palette, enhanced by gold accents, vintage tabletop decor and luxurious velvet textiles, created a warm and elegant ambiance.
Embracing the theme of “Que Sera, Sera” (“Whatever Will Be, Will Be”), Alex and Christian infused their wedding with a sense of wistful acceptance and relaxed joy. This theme was evident in every detail, from the neon letters spelling out the phrase on the wall to the whiskey glasses etched with the same words. Symbolic interpretations of the theme included an unforgettable performance by Sally Marvel of Vaudeville The Show, who captivated guests with a burlesque sword-swallowing routine. The “que sera, sera” philosophy set the tone for a wedding that was as carefree and joyous as it was meaningful.
While the wedding incorporated many traditional elements, Alex and Christian added numerous unconventional touches to make their day truly unique. Instead of a typical seating chart, they created a “check-in desk” wall adorned with vintage hotel key tags for guests. And while they did have some floral arrangements, they enlisted Saville Flowers to primarily fill the space with lush live plants and greenery. As the newlyweds walked down the aisle as husbands for the first time, they were showered with vibrant green leaves, a fittingly unique twist on the traditional rice or confetti toss.
From the charming Piaggio drink truck serving bubbly to the delicious Cajun-Italian-inspired cuisine, every aspect of Alex and Christian’s wedding was a testament to their creativity and love. Their celebration was an unforgettable experience, leaving a lasting impression as one of the most unique and beautifully orchestrated weddings Chicago has ever seen.
