Ava and Jay first crossed paths at a local bar in Lake Geneva. As they chatted, they discovered they lived just ten minutes apart in Chicago. Their connection was instant, and upon returning to the city, their relationship blossomed quickly. It wasn’t long before they were engaged and planning their dream wedding in the very place where fate brought them together.
To achieve their visions of a quintessential summer lake weekend, the couple combined details of relaxed elegance with touches of vintage charm. The Riviera, a venue that immediately captivated Ava with its vintage chandelier and a fleet of old-fashioned cruise line boats docked outside, became the perfect setting for their celebration. For the décor, Ava and Jay chose a summery palette of soft green, white and pink seasonal florals with gold accents to complement the venue’s finishes.
One of the standout moments of the wedding day was the cocktail hour hosted on the Grand Belle, one of the classic boats docked at The Riviera. Guests enjoyed cocktails while soaking up the serene lake views, setting the tone for the day.
As the reception unfolded, music played a significant role. Ava’s mother added an emotional touch by singing “At Last” by Etta James for their first dance. Additionally, Ava & Jay had taken dance lessons leading up to the wedding, which made their first dance even more special. A live band kept the energy high, ensuring the dance floor was packed until the end of the night.
Ava recounts that the most cherished aspect of their wedding, aside from the act of marrying each other, was the blending of their worlds.
