‘Til Death Do Us Part: Serena and Evan
Serena and Evan vowed to be together “’til death” on their ninth dating anniversary. Their ceremony and reception nodded to their cultures – Irish, Chinese and Italian – while also infusing their love of rock ‘n roll. Hosted at The Pavilion at Galleria Marchetti, their ceremony took place in the courtyard garden, Il Cortile. The reception followed in the venue’s four-season tent, accented with crystal chandeliers and travertine flooring.
Serena and Evan grew up in very different environments. Evan was one of five children from an Irish/Italian Catholic family. On the other hand, Serena is an only child who spent most of her childhood in Las Vegas. Subsequently, their wedding was a celebration of the merging of these upbringings and cultures. And of course, all while being authentic to the couple’s personality.
Bar-life was one repeating theme throughout the wedding. After all, Serena and Evan met by chance in a bar in Las Vegas, reconnected at a bar in Chicago, got engaged in a bar and have a dog named Jameson (who walked down the aisle in a little tux!) Custom Jameson shooter bottles served as unique place cards for guests. Additionally, Jameson (the dog) “presented” the bar menu with custom signage.
Evan is a musician in a few bands, so live music and that rocker spirit were key tenets for the day. Evan kicked off the reception performing with one of his bands (Folk Yeah Band). Also, Serena contributed to the rocker-vibe with a custom leather jacket reading “‘Til Death” on the back.
A dark and moody hue covered the celebrations with a deep burgundy, gold and black color palette. Also, this color scheme provided subtle nods to both Serena and Evan’s respective heritages. Further melding traditions, the day included a traditional Chinese tea ceremony, lion dance and custom chopsticks. Not to be forgotten, a fusion menu ranging from sushi, to build-your-own burgers, to flaming donuts had a bit for everyone.
With a wedding this fun and unique, who says you can’t find love on Las Vegas’ Fremont Street in Vegas at 4am? Serena and Evan sure did.
