Chandler and Kurt’s Architectural and Sentimental Elopement
If there’s anything 2020-2022 has taught us, it’s that a sentimental elopement is just as wonderful as a full wedding. Chandler and Kurt’s marriage day is a perfect example of this. Full of touching details and vintage accents, this couple’s union was oh-so-meaningful…and photogenic!
Chandler and Kurt eloped at Chicago’s iconic City Hall on a rainy day in April. To capture it all, Mandelette Photo spent the day with the couple exploring some of Chicago’s architectural marvels.
Starting the day at the Blackstone Hotel, Chandler got ready for their sentimental elopement. Here she did first look with her husband-to-be, their beloved French Bulldog, Leo, and their parents. Chandler wore a discontinued Pronovias gown, the last of its kind and unique to her. Furthermore, the designer Pronovias is based in Spain, where the couple’s wedding celebration will be in October. Yet another unique detail!
The bride’s grandmother had recently passed, so she wanted to honor her with some meaningful touches. For example, she donned a red manicure (just like her grandmother did on her wedding day), wore vintage Chanel no. 5 perfume and carried lace from both of her grandmothers’ wedding dresses around her bouquet.
Both Chandler and Kurt’s families have played their part in creating the Chicago skyline. On Kurt’s side, his grandfather worked on laying the foundation for the Marina Towers. Chandler’s father worked as the CFO for Hines Interest as they developed major commercial buildings. Such iconic buildings include 131 South Dearborn, 300 N LaSalle and 333 West Wacker Drive. Bringing it full circle, the couple and their families ended up at Gibsons Italia for lunch, just across the river from 333 West Wacker Drive.
It was a chilly and surprisingly dry day for April, but in a swirl of romance, the couple seemed to have the city to themselves for their sentimental elopement.
