Local Love – Kelly & Alex at Skyline Loft
Kelly and Alex’s relationship began as a high school friendship. They knew they were meant to be because they supported each other through every part of life while making each other laugh more than anything else.
The couple planned a lovely fall wedding, full of muted purples and greenery. To get to the ceremony space, guests rode up in an elevator equipped with its own bar that served a specialty cocktail! Kelly and Alex chose non-traditional music for the wedding party, and then switched over to the lovely sounds of Alex’s grandmother playing a traditional wedding march as Kelly and her dad walked down the aisle.
Alex is Armenian, so the couple chose to include several special elements in their wedding day to celebrate his heritage. They had evil eyes, which hold significance in the Armenian community, at each place setting that both complemented the décor and served as a favor for guests. Their reception featured both American and Armenian songs that everyone loved dancing to. And maybe most importantly, Armenian gatherings also boast a lot of delicious food, so the couple made sure guests had tapas to nibble at the cocktail hour, followed by three courses of a family-style dinner.
The night was full of surprises! Kelly and her dad started off their father and daughter dance with a slow, serious number that rapidly turned into an upbeat, funny remix. While they were enjoying their dinner, guests were delighted by a surprise performance by a talented violinist. The ultimate surprise was when Alex decided to shove cake right into Kelly’s eye! Thankfully, her makeup was foolproof and the cake wiped right off. The couple also surprised guests with a late-night taco truck to serve up Kelly and Alex’s favorite food that kept everyone energized for the epic dance party.
Kelly and Alex’s wedding day was full of nods to family throughout the details. Kelly’s parents gave them a cake cutting knife that they had used at their own wedding, while Kelly’s grandparents made the beautiful welcome sign and bride and groom signs for their chairs. Kelly also included lace from her mother’s wedding gown in her beautiful veil. The happy couple agreed that sharing their first look was one of the most special moments of their Big Day. They also treasured the love and support they felt from everyone around them. When they looked up after their first dance, they saw their wedding party cheering for them. “That feeling of love and support was the best memory,” Kelly shared.
