Local Love – Lauren & Colin at La Grange Country Club
Colin knew Lauren was the one for him from the beginning of their friendship as freshmen at the University of Iowa. It took Lauren a little longer to realize how special their relationship was, but once they finally began dating their senior year, she knew she was with the man she would marry. The couple planned their “city chic with suburban charm” Big Day for fall, their favorite season.
Lauren and Colin’s wedding day was rainy, with sleet and freezing temperatures thrown in, but the couple lucked out with a break in the precipitation and some sun shining through when it was time to take photos. They exchanged vows in a traditional ceremony in Lauren’s hometown church while incorporating some Catholic traditions to include Colin’s faith as well. Lauren was inspired by the traditional music of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding, so she chose to walk down the aisle to the same Handel song as The Duchess of Sussex, which her cousin sang for a personal touch.
After Lauren and Colin said “I do,” they hopped over to the La Grange Country Club, where Lauren belonged growing up, to celebrate with all their friends and family. The couple used navy as their main color inspiration and added pops of burgundy to the fall color palette. They featured boxwoods as centerpieces for the reception tables. Lauren and Colin chose to work with several vendors they knew personally, as well as local small businesses from Lauren’s hometown, which made every aspect of their celebration feel personal.
In the hustle and bustle of a busy wedding day, Lauren and Colin found a special moment to share together, just the two of them. During cocktail hour, “We had appetizers and specialty drinks brought to us and just had some time to enjoy each other before we spent time with all of our guests,” Lauren shared. The pair agree that the time alone together, to really focus on each other and soak in everything, was their favorite part of their wedding day.
