Local Love – Kelsey & Kyle at Skyline Loft
Kelsey and Kyle, who worked for the same company in Chicago, happened to also live in the same apartment complex. Kyle recognized Kelsey from work and asked her if she wanted to ride with him to the office, which she quickly took him up on, and a friendship began. Kelsey said she had a crush on Kyle throughout their friendship and knew she wanted to date him because, “He was someone who made everyone’s day better.” Their friendship eventually led to a relationship and Kyle said he knew Kelsey was the one for him from the very beginning. “Everything about her was what I had always envisioned in someone,” he shared.
When it came time to plan their wedding, Kelsey and Kyle knew they wanted to tie the knot in Chicago, the city where they fell in love. There was an unseasonal chill in the air on the morning of their wedding day, but the couple was unphased. Kelsey spent the morning getting ready with her bridesmaids, mom, sister, and nieces. Her friends had a book made for her with notes from each of them and some of her family members— an emotional and meaningful gift. While Kelsey was bonding with the girls, Kyle enjoyed brunch out with his groomsmen and got ready with the guys at the couple’s apartment. He even managed to sneak in a photo with their cat before heading to their venue.
Kelsey and Kyle went for a “romantically simple” vibe for their Big Day, which they achieved beautifully. They stuck to a neutral palette, adding in accents of blush and gold for good measure. Twinkling lights, candles, and plenty of luscious greenery and flowers gave a soft, romantic feel to the space. They made sure guests were taken care of from the moment they arrived, with champagne waiting in the elevator up to the ceremony. The wedding ceremony itself was personal and intimate, officiated by Kelsey’s brother who spoke fondly of the couple and their commitment. Kyle was so ready to marry Kelsey that he accidentally said “I do,” too soon, which elicited a lot of laughter.
Officially Mr. and Mrs., Kyle and Kelsey enjoyed celebrating for the rest of the night with their closest family and friends. Kelsey’s mom gave a moving speech and the couple will always hold listening to the heartfelt toasts and speeches as a special memory. The dance floor was busy all night and the party extended past the close of the reception, with Kelsey and Kyle ending their night at a small pizza place in their wedding attire. Looking back on their Big Day, the couple both said their first look was their favorite memory. Kyle said he will never forget seeing Kelsey in her wedding dress for the first time, and Kelsey, who is usually the more emotional one, will never forget that, “Kyle started tearing up the second I turned the corner. It was really sweet.”
Kelsey and Kyle made sure their wedding day felt personal and focused on their families. They worked with family and friends for several needs, from officiating the ceremony to making their wedding cake and sweets and designing their invitations. Kelsey was very pleased with the end result, noting, “I felt like it helped make the entire process a lot more personal.”
