Local Love – Meaghann & Travis at Cog Hill Golf & Country Club
Meaghann and Travis met at prom during their junior year of high school and began dating a few months later. Their lives came together in a way that felt natural and meant to be. Meaghann knew Travis was her perfect partner because she simply couldn’t imagine her life without him. Once it was time to plan a wedding, Meaghann knew she wanted the wedding she’d always dreamed of to be at Christmas time.
Meaghann woke up feeling full of joy and excitement on her wedding day. She enjoyed hair and makeup time with her bridesmaids before traveling to her grandparents’ house to put on her dress. She was treated to a surprise guest—her cat!— to take photos with her in his little tux. Travis got ready with his groomsmen at the couple’s home, where he and his friends had fun hanging out and spending some quality friend time before the whirlwind of a day began.
Meaghann and Travis chose to get married in a traditional Catholic ceremony at the church where Meaghann’s grandparents and parents had been married. The couple read letters from each other prior to the ceremony, which was very special for them both, and waited to see each other for the first time in the church. Watching Meaghann walk down the aisle in her beautiful dress was easily Travis’s favorite part of their Big Day. Meaghann and Travis had a close friend sing at the service, and the entire ceremony was incredibly meaningful for them both. “The church was completely packed, and the outpouring of love could just be felt by everyone,” Megan shared.
After the ceremony, the couple had planned to take photos outside in the expected snow, but a surprise weather change of wind and rain kept them indoors. They ended up taking fun photos at Target, which is one of Meaghann’s favorite places! After photos, they joined their guests for a rustic, yet elegant Christmas-themed reception. Meaghann and Travis made sure guests wouldn’t leave hungry with a family-style dinner, sweets table, and late night snacks from their favorite pizza place. Meaghann, an avid baker, even made over 900 chocolate chip cookies with her sister, two days before the wedding, to send home with guests.
The couple had the best time dancing and celebrating with their friends and family. They really enjoyed having a photo cube to capture the fun everyone was having throughout the night. Meaghann and Travis made sure to include plenty of sentimental items and details in their celebration. They used Meaghann’s grandparents’ cake knife, engraved with their original wedding date and used by her parents and aunts and uncles as well. Meaghann’s grandfather made the mailbox the couple used to collect cards at the reception and then later used at their home. They also displayed a sweet sign Travis’s late grandfather had made for them at their bridal shower, to symbolize his presence on their special day. When looking back on their Big Day, Meaghann said, “It was honestly a magical day that wouldn’t be complete without our family and friends by our side.”
