Rustic charm, fairytale elegance and historic rain blended to create a memorable day for Alyssa and Tyler’s October wedding. The couple exchanged vows at Saints Peter and Paul, where the bride’s parents and grandparents had tied the knot. Alyssa graced the 100-foot aisle in a hand-beaded Maggie Sottero gown and cathedral length veil, carrying an organic bouquet of peach ranunculus, Juliet and crimson heart roses. During the vows, lightning struck the bell tower, inspiring awe…and then laughter. Weather couldn’t dampen the bridal party’s fun and photos in a covered barn (complete with muddy floors and a tractor), paying homage to a strong farming connection. A glamorous reception at Bolingbrook Golf Club awaited guests after the ceremony. An entrance of hay bales and pumpkins led to a magical scene of gold-draped tables and towering floral arrangements. The newlyweds cut into a white buttercream cake, topped with a gold silhouette of a bride and Superman, the groom’s favorite superhero.
“The sweets table, decorated very rustic, offered an array of take-home treats of cupcakes, pies, cookies brought from the bride’s extended family in Pittsburgh (where cookie tables are a big tradition) and their favorite candy: caramel apple pops for the bride and Reese’s cups for the groom.”
After, they joined with their bridal party at the 24’ King’s table adorned with glistening chandeliers, glitter pumpkins and rose-filled garland. As the night progressed, foam glow sticks turned the dance floor into a nightclub. If rain is good luck on your wedding day, 8” should bring a lifetime of love and happily ever afters.
Words of Wisdom from the Couple
“Ask for help! I could not have done the planning process without the help of my mom and sister. Place your trust in those who care about you to help you make planning decisions. I was planning an out-of-town wedding and they tasted cupcakes, created beautiful decor and scouted photo locations. If you try and do it all, it will be stressful, not fun like it should be.”
