They Really Did Meet Before
When Irene first met Alexander, it was at his fifth birthday party and she was just three years old. But this is no story of childhood sweethearts. The two became acquainted later on through mutual friends and only after telling their parents did they find out that they had met as children. Their parents even have a picture of the two at that fateful birthday party, with Alexander’s arm around the three-year old Irene. | | Chicago Resources
INVITATIONS
Shiny, ivory tri-fold invitations from Encore Studios.
CEREMONY
Astoria Banquets, Buffalo Grove. The ceremony was filled with elements that communicated tranquility and purity. The dominant color was ivory and the florist used the Astoria’s gorgeous crystal chandeliers to create a Chuppah with draped sheer fabric. The floor runner was lined with glass cylinders filled with white orchids and floating candles. The music for the most part was traditional Jewish instrumental music, but the bride entered to a gorgeous slow tango song that her sister and brother-in-law found, which leant a touch of drama to the traditional ceremony.
OFFICIANT
Rabbi Schlomo Shuster
RECEPTION
The night began in the VIP Lounge of Astoria Banquets, Buffalo Grove for cocktails, then moved on to the Grand Ballroom for dinner and dancing under the room’s crystal chandeliers. Since the ceremony was held in the same grand ballroom, the room was transformed using color and lighting: all white for the ceremony and vibrant colors for the reception. Each table at the reception alternated between hot pink, bright red and vibrant orange to set a mood of drama and fun.
CAKE
Irene found the idea for the cake online and a family friend who had been a baker made the cake. It was then decorated with fresh flowers and silvery pearls.

Both flowers and lighting were provided by Yanni Design Studio, Glenview.
