THE WEDDING TROLLEY

When Dolly and Mark think back on their wedding day, one of their happiest memories will be taking a spin around the city of Chicago on a trolley. “It was so much fun to have all our friends together and drive through the city we love. Also we both knew the pressure was off now and it was time to have fun and enjoy our special day,” says Dolly. Mark got in the moment by dancing in the center of the trolley.

CEREMONY
St Michael’s of Old Town, Chicago. It was a traditional Catholic ceremony, with the only “surprise” occurring when the matron of honor forgot the groom’s ring in her purse. Since Dolly and Mark were already at the altar, Mark’s young niece, Colleen, had to bring it down the aisle. This prompted Fr. Joseph Morin to quip that someone should inform the young lady that he works alone.

RECEPTION
Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum. The reception included both indoor and outdoor options for the cocktail and dinner hours, as well as several lounge areas anchoring the dance floor. The look was sleek and elegant with tables covered in a black and white brocade with onyx vases filled with calla lilies and hybrid yellow roses.

CAKE
A three-tiered cake that was square on the bottom and round on the top for a modern twist from Take the Cake, Inc., Chicago. Layers included an almond butter cake with crème brulee and raspberry preserve filling and a chocolate fudge cake with a milk chocolate mousse filling.

MENU
Blue Plate Catering. The night began with delicious cucumber martinis and a signature drink called a Pink Halo, made with champagne with a splash of Raspberry Stoli and fresh strawberries. Dinner included two stations: a carving station serving among other choices, garlic and parmesan crusted beef tenderloin, and an Indian station serving Paneer Makhani, a homemade cheese in creamy tomato sauce. At the sweets table, guests could choose between cheesecake lollipops, dipped in chocolate and rolled in nuts, peanut butter and jelly truffles, and flourless chocolate cake bites
