COMING HOME
Coming home to get married happens more and more today with busy career couples. Kristin had moved after college to Traverse City, Michigan, to follow her dream of being in broadcast journalism. But it was here that she also met Jack and the two fell in love. When it came to the wedding, Kristin came home to Chicago to be surrounded by her family.

CEREMONY
St. Norbert Church in Northbrook. The bride attended St. Norbert School from kindergarten through eighth grade and her mom even works for the school.
RECEPTION
Armour House, a mansion on the grounds of Lake Forest Academy. It is like stepping back in time, says Kristin. Every part of the evening took place in a separate space—cocktails were served on the outdoor patio overlooking the gardens, dinner in the Great Hall and, during the dancing, guests could enjoy cookies and coffee in the Walnut-paneled library.
FLOWERS
Blooms by Tina and Dollie, of Niles, highlighted the reception space with tall domed arrangements of green flowers—supergreen roses, green hydrangea, green amaranthus--and accented with a touch of ivory Vendella roses on brown twisted cast iron stands.
CAKE
A four-tier, square cake with each tier a layered cake of chocolate, vanilla, white chocolate mousse and Bailey’s Irish Cream mousse by Rolf’s Patisserie, Lincolnwood,
MUSIC
Standing Room Only Orchestra provided a pianist during cocktails and a trio during dinner as well as the orchestra for the dancing.
WEDDING CONSULTANT
Ali Phillips, Engaging Events by Ali
FAVORS
To share the romance of the day and provide a substantial keepsake for their guests, Kristin and Jack ordered books of love poems from Dover. They also ordered wedding labels from beaucoup.com with their monogram and wedding date and placed it on the title page. The books were inexpensive (less than $1.50 each and free shipping).
WEDDING GOWN
The “Eudora” by Melissa Sweet, a halter-style with ruching at the waist, lace detailing and a chapel length train. Purchased at Priscilla of Boston in Oakbrook Terrace.
