HISTORY OF "I DO"
Weddings are one of the oldest and most commonly practiced traditions in history. Nearly every part of the celebration is steeped in history and tradition with religion, culture, family custom, and superstition having shaped these events since the first couple said “I do.” The I Do! Chicago Ties the Knot exhibition at the Chicago History Museum will explore an array of various wedding traditions, from the wedding veil, best man, wedding gown, numerous bridesmaids, and the wedding ring by featuring approximately 45 ensembles worn by various members of wedding parties performed in Chicago, dating back to the city’s founding. The exhibition is on display from May 22, 2010 through January 3, 2011. A must-see for all brides-to-be in Chicago.
