Expert Hair and Makeup Artists Dish on How to Work
the Top Beauty Trends at Your Wedding
The Chic Bride
romantic styles have been very popular. This bride’s hair is styled
into a chignon with soft, piece-y waves starting at the root. Our
stylist used a large iron and did not brush out the curls, gently
pulling them back into a chignon on the back of the head.
have bangs or like to wear your hair with a deep side part, you could
have your stylist pull your hair to the side, creating the chignon on
the side of your choice.
This bride’s eye makeup is what our
team refers to as a natural, smokey eye. For this bride, we chose a
gold shadow for her lid and blended a nude matte shadow into the
crease. We added a thin black line on the top lid, smudged slightly
with a matte black/brown shadow to soften the look of the liner and
added cluster lashes for a more natural lash enhancement.
of lining her bottom lash line we took the nude crease color and softly
brushed it from outer corner to inner corner, adding a pop of the gold
shimmer to the corner of her eyes.

the day of your wedding, make sure your hair is completely dry. Your
hair needs to be clean, but dry. It will hold the curl or wave better
and it's easier to work with. Trust your stylist to know what products
to use to give that extra bit of grip.
A low chignon is
simple, elegant and classy. To get this beautiful style, tell your
stylist you want a low bun chignon that is not too tight to the head
and has a little texture. Ask for a soft, side-swept part with a little
volume on top. It’s a beautiful style that works on everyone and goes
with every dress. As the bride, you want to feel beautiful and
comfortable! This no-worries style is easy to keep all day and looks
amazing in pictures!
When it comes to makeup, it’s all about
what you want to look like and how you want to feel. For spring and
summer, you want to keep it bright and clean. A beautiful pink or soft
magenta lipstick and lip gloss will look bright without being too
flashy. And false eyelashes are a must. They make your eyes look larger
and give them depth. Once you have those on, you feel like your face is
ready. A little shadow and liner, and you’re good to go!

The Classic Bride
rustic-themed wedding called for a free-flowing, natural look. Her
braid headband set back off her hairline adds a fun pop to this
romantic style. Subtle waves throughout the body of her hair add volume
and texture, which is helpful in summertime for brides who want to wear
their hair down and might face curl-flopping humidity.
such a natural hairstyle and an outdoor theme, we wanted her makeup to
feel really natural, too. We used neutral brown tones to create a sexy
smoky eye with a dramatic lash to dress up her overall look.

is so beautiful and wanted to look like she came out of a magazine. She
has amazing hair that we rolled to sweep her face with a soft, natural
wave. Because she has such beautiful blue eyes and wanted a soft, smoky
look, I opted to use soft pink and a beautiful navy shadow from Il
Makiage. Then I buffed out some black gel liner with the same navy
shadow to give it a precise but sexy, smudgy look.
trick to creating full coverage with a "natural look" is to perfect any
problems with a thin swipe of foundation then diffuse the skin with an
airbrush. This technique is long-wearing, but still leaves skin feeling
light and photo ready. I created a multi-dimensional look with an
ash-based bronzer, highlighter, and flush of rosy blush.
off her smile, we used an enduring lip stain in Crème Brûlée. Of
course, we couldn’t forget beautiful, real-hair lashes to complete the
look. We love the products we used in this look, so we stock them in
studio for lessons and special event makeup. Having the right tools
makes all the difference!

eyes and dark lips together can be absolutely stunning – when done
correctly. The bold drama can give off a really sexy vibe. To create
this look, I began by applying a light moisturizer all over and a touch
of eye shadow primer to each lid. I chose a light beige eye shadow for
a base, a darker brown to enhance the crease, and a light shimmer
shadow below her brows.
I smudged black liner outward to softly
enhance the lash line. Then a pencil liner was applied on the bottom
lash line and blended out with a neutral brown on top. A generous
amount of black mascara and a set of natural-looking false lashes made
her eyes pop and her lashes look extra full.
concealer were applied with a touch of moisturizer mixed in to give the
right consistency. I dusted loose powder over her face to set the
foundation. Her cheeks were enhanced with a cream blush, then dusted
with a soft pink powder. I applied a cream highlighter to her nose,
cheeks and temples and blended well for that perfect glow.
filled in sparse areas of the eyebrows using a brown eyeliner pencil,
and went over them with a neutral brown eye shadow to set the color.
For her lips, I used a red liner and then applied a warm red lip color
over it. Using a lip brush, I added a clear gloss to create more
dimension, then reapplied the liner one more time to finish off the

modern, yet classic bride radiates the joy of the occasion. As makeup
artists, we want to capture that radiance by creating a flawless
application, particularly with respect to the complexion. For skin to
look flawless, but still "like skin," the foundation that we prefer to
use is our pro product, First by Maqpro.
For our modern
bride, we selected HD Liquid Foundation and, together with our priming
and moisturizing Mixer, we applied it with a brush. You could also use
a great sea sponge. The foundation is water-resistant and lasts more
than twelve hours.
To create that classic flush, we added a
pink crème from our First by Maqpro Lip and Cheek palette. For the
lips, we first covered the entire lip in “Trick” by OCC, then we once
again used the First Lip and Cheek on the lip, topped with “Cameo” Lip
Glaze by FACE atelier.
Our bride's eyes are defined with our
“First” tonal shadow palette, and are glamorized with First Star
Powder. Finally, our modern, yet classic bride is wearing false lashes
to really enhance her beautiful eyes. All of the products we used are
available both at our school and online!

wanted to create something that would hold up in the Windy City and
compliment my bride Jessica’s elegant and delicate frame. We decided to
create a totally unique look featuring a magnificent rose.
began by setting her hair in hot rollers to give volume and support.
For the rose, I placed clip-on extensions in her hair to give dimension
and maximum expansion. Then I created a braid and formed it into
petals. I used a workable spray and shine gloss for each petal and
tucked them in using my invisible bobby pin technique.
front, I did a curved side part with a soft finger wave. This technique
kept Jessica's hair out of her face, but left her looking polished. I
completed this design with a strong humidity-resistant hairspray. This
is a perfect look for the bride that wants an eye-catching chignon and
the flexibility of movement!
For Jessica’s makeup, we did a
purple smoky eye that would photograph well in the bright daylight and
hold up until the evening for her ceremony and reception. Individual
eyelashes were applied to enhance her look. I finished up with a soft
pink lipstick and gloss for shine. I recommend that every bride has a
mini touch-up kit for her lips and powder to fix any issues throughout

can get this look by simply telling your stylist you would like a
pepped-up version of yourself! Our bride Ruth wanted a natural look for
her makeup. We went with neutral eyes and a natural lip tone to really
help her natural beauty shine through. Although this was a full
application of makeup with airbrushing and false lashes, this bride’s
look is natural and feels effortless. And she’s completely camera ready!
hair, we created a curly side bun with a soft side swoop. We added
plenty of volume and texture, but avoided the “stiff hair” appearance
with some flexible hairspray. This natural, sweet look is perfect for
any bride who wants to feel relaxed, sophisticated and totally like
herself on her big day.
